Guided Tours

We are delighted to offer free guided tours, usually on Sundays (please check our events diary for details), usually at 11am and 2pm. These will give you an insight into the fascinating, educational and often bloody history of Samlesbury Hall, for grown-ups and children alike.

Our tour guides are often in costume and often happy to talk on a one-to-one basis either before or after their tours. These tours can be booked for private parties, see Group visits for details.

Visitor Comments

"...the witch tour, utterly engaging and a real slice of history . I will return with my family, a must for all."

"...we took part in the witch tour hosted by Jane, possibly one of the most entertaining and informative things I've seen in a long time! ...we will definitely be back soon."

"...this is a wonderful place to visit - go on a Sunday to catch the tour under the knowledgeable guidance of either Janey the (alleged) witch or Henry VIII. Both will give you an insiders view of life in the Hal, through the ages - warts and all. Be prepared to be amused."

"...the tour with Simon Entwistle is excellent"

"...The place is steeped in history and was brought to life by our excellent guide Simon Entwistle. He told us the story of the hall, several times adopting the character, of the subject of his anecdote. He held his large audience captivated as we walked from room to room. At the end we felt entertained and educated!"

"...a beautiful building and grounds and we had Henry 8th bring the history to life, making the day very enjoyable and memorable"
