Groups

Samlesbury hall is a wonderful place for you and your group, we can offer a half or full day visit for all to enjoy. We welcome pre-booked parties of 20 or more.

All tours last around 60 to 75 minutes. There are no roped off areas and visitors can enjoy their tour without undue restrictions.

Whether you need a guided visit with a specialist tour guide during our regular opening hours, (£8 per person), or just a wander through the rooms at will (completely free!), we are only too happy to accommodate every party.  We can also offer a private evening tour when we would open up our doors at night time especially for your group (£15 per person)

Take a tour with Lancashire's own Simon Entwistle, the master of spookiness, and learn about the boggarts of Samlesbury. He will also guide you through the fascinating and eerie ghost tales of Lancashire.

Or join our other fantastic knowledgeable guides and hear of the many lives and families that Samlesbury Hall has seen come and go over the centuries. From be-headings to bewitchings, their fascinating and often gruesome tales come to life in front of your very eyes.

There are also the charming grounds of Samlesbury Hall to enjoy with a beautiful courtyard, the quatrefoil rose garden and our brand new Bee & Heritage centre (complete with live bees!)

VISITOR COMMENTS

"I just wanted to send you a quick E-mail as the driver has just called from our group above.  Andrew and the group visited you yesterday and he has contacted me today to advise how great the visit was.  He said that Joanne the tour guide was fantastic and she kept the whole group engaged and laughing - He said he had never had a group visit like it"

"Thank you for the wonderful day our group spent with you yesterday. We had a lovely lunch - please thank the chefs - the soup and scones were delicious. We all LOVED your witch. - what a very talented lady you have there. She had us laughing while at the same time entertaining us with the history of the hall - such a change from the usual guided tour. Many thanks again for a most enjoyable day"

"The highlight of our weekend was the performance by your guide, Janie, who very much brought to life the history she gave us, not to mention bringing out the acting skills of some of our Club Members. It was hilarious at times. Very good indeed. Tours of historic houses will never be the same for us we fear"

"Just a line to thank you and others at Samlesbury Hall for making our visit on Tuesday so enjoyable. A number of people commented that they had appreciated being entertained by Janie the witch and were sorry that they had not had the opportunity to thank her properly. We all enjoyed the excellent cakes and on such a lovely day many took advantage of the ice cream parlour. As members of U3A history group we are fascinated by places of local historic interest and Samlesbury Hall certainly caters for that with the freedom to explore the building and grounds. Thank you to all for an interesting and entertaining afternoon."
