Rosie & Richard. 13th April.

Rosie & Richard's Real Life Wedding at Samlesbury Hall

by Samlesbury Hall

We met at school.  Technically when we were in year 7 - but we didn’t start going out until we were in 6th form at just 17.  We shared some free periods and we would share cups of tea and chocolate hobnobs together!

We are both from a small town called Bourne in Lincolnshire.  We have moved to Manchester for work and have lived there for about 6 years.  Richard is an accountant, I am a teacher and we love living in Manchester with our cat Indy.  We chose Lancashire for the wedding because we loved Samlesbury as a venue.  We had considered getting married in the Lake District, but when we found Samlesbury Hall - we we glad to have found such a unique venue which was relatively close to home.

As a History teacher - I fell in love with Samlesbury when we visited for a day out.  I loved the history of the site and exploring the various rooms and exhibitions in the house.  We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, the quirky shepherd's huts and the animals being on site - all made better with the scrumptious ice cream from the wafflery!  When we first visited, we weren’t even engaged - we had just gone for a day out. We considered it as a wedding venue when one of our friends told us that they had been to a wedding there and said it had been amazing.  The fact that there was accommodation on site was a big factor as we wanted our guests to be able to arrive and not worry about moving between venues.  The Great Hall is just so beautiful - it was just perfect for what we wanted!

The quality of the food and service was a major pull factor when we chose Samlesbury.  We had visited several times by the time we booked the wedding, and each visit had tried different food - from cake to terrine! We had been really impressed.  We went to one of the Wedding fair evenings and tried different meal options for the big day.  We went for the apple, celery and stilton soup to start, lamb shank with seasonal vegetables and dauphinois potatoes for main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.  It was just delicious! It was really important for us that the food was great and we were not disappointed.  All of our guests said how great the food was - especially the lamb - just delicious!

We had an excellent experience with everyone we met at Samlesbury.  From start to finish, the friendly and professional nature of the staff really made us have confidence that our day was going to be perfect.  They were so helpful and explained everything which helped us to navigate through the many decisions we had to make.  Rachael and Sasha were great both in the run up to, during and after the ceremony.  Thank you!

It is so hard to pick just one moment as the best part! It was all so amazing!  Of course, the ceremony was really special, but there were a couple of moments where Rich and I stepped back and just looked around at the Great Hall and saw all of our closest friends and families enjoying themselves - those moments were really special.

We had such an amazing day and want to thank everyone at Samlesbury who really made the day run seamlessly.  We couldn’t have done it without you and we would really recommend Samlesbury to anyone planning a wedding!
