Tabitha & Adam. 4th August

A BEAUTIFUL AUGUST SUMMER'S DAY WEDDING AT SAMLESBURY HALL

by Samlesbury Hall

Where/how did you meet?

Adam and I met back in 2010 when we were at rival universities. It was all a bit Montague vs Capulet. We met at a nightclub serving £1 cocktails, hence we fell in love.

Tell us a little bit about yourselves!

We love holidays and are real globe trotters. So much so that Tabitha has managed to plan a minimoon, buddymoon and honeymoon of the back of the wedding and is already planning where to go for our first anniversary.  To have all of these holidays, we both work hard but love what we do.  Neither of us are at all creative and so we found the very best suppliers to make our day magical.

Where are you both from?  If you aren’t a local then why choose Lancashire?

Tabitha is originally from Lancashire and so wanted to go back to her roots for her wedding. Tabitha's mum now lives in Bury and so marrying in the North allowed her to be wedding planner in chief - she needed something to keep her busy during her retirement. Adam is from London so he thought a passport would be required to travel to Lancashire, once he discovered where it was on the map.   However both families loved the venue and being in Lancashire.

What made you pick Samlesbury Hall for your wedding venue?

We picked Samlesbury Hall because it is such a striking venue, steeped in history but with a relaxed vibe (which is an unusual vibe). It was also a very convenient venue for our guests travelling from the South as it was easy to get to from Preston station and had lots of accommodation options.  We also adored the Shepherd's Huts onsite.  Our guests enjoyed partying until the early hours around campfires and the party did not have to end.

What did you eat for your wedding breakfast?

We wanted to embrace the North and so had steak pie and chips which were absolutely delicious. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding. We were very lucky to have warm, sunny weather and so our guests enjoyed canapes and ice cream during the afternoon.

Did the team at Samlesbury Hall help you in making decisions?

The Samlesbury Hall team were fantastic from the moment we made our first enquiry to the aftercare we received.  The team were great in guiding us on our choices from what foods worked well together to liaising directly with our suppliers to take away some of the Wedmin from us. They were very relaxed on the day and always there to help us in the build-up.

What was the very best part of your day?

It is so hard to pick a moment but I have to say that our vows were the most special part of our day.  We decided to write our own and Adam, who is usually not known for his linguistic talents, shocked us all and transformed into the poet laureate and wrote the most beautiful vows.  It was either that or the surprise belly dancer which Adam's Dad organised to honour our Middle Eastern heritages.

Anything else you would like to add?

Our suppliers were fantastic.  Frog Flowers blew us away with their skill and style in putting together the most beautiful floral displays.  Sonara Parker and Mairead at Wedlocks did a great job in making Tabitha look beautiful (make-up and hair) and Joe Mather was a pleasure to be around and left us with beautiful photographic memories.  Jessica Avison was the talented singer who performed in the afternoon and also happened to be Tabitha's childhood friend.
