  • Janey Southworths Guided tours

We visited Salmsbury Hall on Sunday September 24th 2017 for a day out. It is the most stunning of places. Build in 1325, half timbered and just amazing. The fact that entry is free was good enough in itself but the fact that we went on a free guided tour run by the Salmsbury witch Janey Southworth was just the most amazing experience. She is BRILLIANT! It was the funniest, filthiest (in the right way) most informative, most entertaining guided tour that I have ever had the privilege of witnessing. This is a must visit place for anyone who loves history, theatre and architecture. I have been involved in theatre all my life and have done dozens of guided tours, but never before have I witnessed one as good as this. Go along and support the hall, they deserve it!! We will be back very soon!

  • An excellent day out!

My husband and myself visited yesterday (15/10/2017) for the first time. We had a lovely welcome and were told about all the activities on offer. Following delicious scones and coffee we went to watch the beehives being opened and checked. It was interesting and informative. We tasted different kinds of honey and bought some to take home. Then we went to join the "janey" tour of the house. What a great experience! The tour guide was informative but was able to include young and old by her fun loving, quick witted and sometimes hilarious talk. She likened herself to horrible histories meets loose women and that was definitely true. Not to be missed. We really enjoyed the visit and look forward to returning soon.

  • Superb wedding venue

My son's wedding was held at Samlesbury Hall last Saturday and it was wonderful. The venue is unique, the grounds spacious and well kept, the ceremony very personal in the old chapel, the wedding breakfast delicious (special diets catered for brilliantly) and the space for sitting and dancing later just right - not too big or too small. We stayed in a hut in the Hamlet which was very cosy and included all necessary items for an overnight stay. We finished off the weekend with a breakfast served in the Hall. All staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely recommend.

Where do I start? Upon arriving, felt privileged to have discovered such a beautiful historic site, basking in the sunshine in all its glory. I had booked a last minute getaway for two nights in the shepherds hut, as a little adventure with family and friends. As completely new experience, was unsure what to expect, and can honestly say that any expectations where exceeded! Huts were fab-u-lous! I want one

We used Samlesbury Hall this week for a funeral, both for the service and the refreshments afterwards. All of the staff without exception went above and beyond to make the arrangements easy for us, whilst still accommodating all our requirements. The food was excellent and a very good choice, whilst still being very good value. We would highly recommend the Hall and it's catering team for any event. Many thanks to all.

Would just like to thank the staff in the Heritage Cafe today, for an excellent lunch. We went as a family and all decided that we must do it again soon as the food, service and general ambience of the place were all conducive to an excellent outing. We had the chicken wings, garlic ciabatta, cheese and bacon burger, steak and onion marmalade sandwich and steak and ale pie with compliments from all the family regarding each dish. The newly created outdoor garden area also looks wonderful although a ramp over the door step would have been beneficial so that I could have got my wheelchair outside to take full advantage of it.
