“My friend Elaine and I did our internship in Samlesbury Hall. It was a fantastic experience for us and we had a lot of fun! The staff and the volunteers were really friendy and patient with us. Even when we wouldn't have been there for working, we would have loved to go there to enjoy a day in Samlesbury Hall. The atmosphere is great, the history is interesting, and the stuff in the Gift Shop is lovely! We also would love to come to Preston again in the future, just to see, how it's going. We only can recommend a visit, because it's worth it! ”

“We googled free places to visit Lancashire, ....how glad I was to have chose this, we were delighted with our afternoon out. We met King Henry VIii himself with a guided tour of the main rooms downstairs, he was extremely charming and informative, and maybe could bag himself wife number 7 ha ha. But seriously please take time to appreciate what is on your doorstep and support our local history, we had already eaten but we did see the menu and looked delicious so instead we bought something from the gift shop instead as our donation. Thanks to all staff once again. ”

“We attended a wedding in December & booked to stay overnight in a hut. We had never been to Samlesbury Hall & loved it! What a gorgeous building. We loved the set up of three huts with a fireplace in the middle, which must be fun if rented with a group of friends or family. I had been a bit worried about the temperatures but the hut's heating was superefficient and kept us cosy despite the frosty weather. The hut was tiny but cute, very clean & we appreciated the kettle and tea/coffee/hot choc selection. Full English breakfast in the morning was really nice (as was the food during the wedding) and all staff we met were friendly and enthusiastic about the place. We would definitely recommend staying, especially after attending an event. Would love to return some day in the summer”

“Just had a great day out at the stunning Samlesbury Hall! Beautiful black & white timbered exterior & lovely restored tudor rooms make you feel like you have stepped back in history. Add a guided tour by Janey the alleged witch, who is both knowledgeable & hilarious and you feel like you are definitely there in the past! Enjoyed a lovely lunch & the staff are all so friendly. We spent over 4 hrs there enjoying all the rooms & displays & visiting the animals and the bee centre. Such a good day out & no idea why I hadn't been for over 35 years! I will definitely be returning very soon!”

“Salmesbury Hall is such a beautiful place with so much to do. We visit a couple of times a year and always go to the Easter hunts. Staff are wonderful, surroundings gorgeous and lots to do for kids. I highly recommend the Easter/summer hunts with 'Betsy' they are such good value for money and perfect for keeping little ones entertained. Thanks for another wonderful day.”

“We got married here a few weeks ago, and the day couldn't have gone better! The grounds are kept extremely well, to the point that some of our guests felt guilty stepping on the grass! The staff were amazing all round, organized, friendly and helpful. ”
