The Trust & Modern Day

In the early 1920s the Hall was ready to be demolished, and a housing estate built on the site. Six Blackburn businessmen bought the Hall for £1,500, to save the ancient building. These gentlemen started the Samlesbury Hall Trust in 1925.

The Samlesbury Hall Trust began in 1925, in order to maintain and keep the Hall open for the visitors of Blackburn to enjoy; however, we do allow visitors from all over the world, even Accrington!

Today’s Hall offers a diverse and interesting visit, Of course there is History but also antiques, a fine restaurant, art galleries, a gift shop, and welcoming grounds with all the animals to say hello to! A day visit may involve a free guided tour on a Sunday, a roast beef lunch, afternoon tea, and a talk with the owl rescue team, lunch with the harpist, a gin and tonic in the courtyard, that special gift from the shop, feeding the animals, watch your fingers! Or perhaps just a coffee and a read of the dailies in the coffee lounge, would be a good choice.

The Trustees still ensure that all of this is here for you on a daily basis, managed by the Hall Director and supported by her hard working team. info@samlesburyhall.co.uk
